Sci-fi conventions

Rick and morty
What makes a science fiction text conventional?

  • mise-en-scene: space ships- conventional of sci-fi as it relates to science and technology.
  • portals which switch between reality and sci-fi.
  • eyes- symbolises emotions and references sci-fi films like blade runner.

  • textual references to the sci-fi film back to the future. this is shown through the characters- a crazy scientist and a teenage boy.
  • sound: techno- this is conventional of the sci-fi genre and suggests rick and morty is something from out of space, the fast paced music fits in with the changing scenes in opening credits.
